Sometimes
I thank god for unanswered prayers No, I'm not a religious person. But it was my best friend's sister's senior quote, and I really liked it. It's also a good song. In the interest of clarity, I've kept this site as the Weyrhold Proposal one, which I will frequently refer to during the revamp of the Ridges Website.
What is a Weyrhold? History and a brief explanation? Sure: The Weyrhold existed pre-pass, but it sorta broke up when some riders wanted to relocate to a 'real' Weyr. There has been enough population to take care of the immeadite areas during Fall and leave the rest to surroudning Weyrs. This worked fine, until the previous Weyrleader was killed in Threadfall. The Weyrwoman tried valiantly to maintain the Weyr till her queen rose again, but the lack of strong bronzes required her to throw her next flight open. However, the Weyrhold will be more than an average Weyr. The majority of riders must be craftsmen as well interested in working a craft instead of the normal rider duties, since the other two Weyrs cover sweepriding and such duties. The main prerequisite is to be a crafter whose Impression caused him to stop his craft - and you must want to _continue_ the craft as well. The second prerequisite is that they must be old enough to be in a fighting wing. The weyrlings from the senior queen's clutch will be transferred to an existing Weyr once they are old enough to fly, and any subesquent clutches will be trained in the last stages of their development at either DRW or RCW. As for the Hold part, there will be no real Lord/Lady Holder - rather, a senior gold/bronze rider who rule the Weyr aspect (known as Weyrholders) as well as a Headwoman who deals with the Hold sections, and the MasterCraftsmen. The Seacraft will need a Craftmaster, craft seconds and thirds, and other sorts of masters and Journeymen. The DLG has quite a bit to say about Seacrafting (it calls if Fishcraft). There is one MasterCraftsman who oversees all the captains. Under them are varying degrees of Journeymen - First mate, second mate, ablo-bodied, and seaman. Etc. Seems like everyone has their own copy, so I won't bother typing it all up. |
